So long snowy Northeast: Hello, Nexton
Are you an outdoor enthusiast, always ready to paddle a new river or hike a new trail? Maybe you dig discovering new family-friendly parks around town. Or just love the feeling of sunshine on your skin when you take your daily walk. Like the DeMarco family, you’ll find that at Nexton, the great outdoors feel that much more great when you can enjoy them nearly year round.
A few years ago, their Mother’s Day walk in western New York state was cut short thanks to a snow shower. Yes - in May. (That shaking you feel is all southerners reading this simultaneously shuddering at the thought.) And that’s when Claire and Nick decided it was time to look south.
One scouting trip later, a drive through Nexton, and it was done. A new home was on the horizon. One with sunshine. Lots of kids playing outdoors. And all the conveniences you could imagine within a few minutes drive. Today, the Demarco family is a picture-perfect family of four (+ two four-legged friends) that once described living at Nexton “like being on vacation all the time.”
All four love Midtown’s resort-style pool, golf carting-around the neighborhood, and joining the POA’s seasonal event line-up. You’ll catch them tossing candy in the annual Holiday Golf Cart Parade, feeding cows and mini-horses during the fall festival, and going wild over the spring BMX show in Brighton Park.
In between, they visit the area's plentiful beaches. Explore community parks and zoos (Bee City is a family favorite). And enjoy their own little slice of Lowcountry in their spacious backyard. Thanks to Nexton’s superb location just 20-minutes from Charleston International Airport, they also find visiting family back home in New York state a breeze. Except for all those coats and gloves they have to pack, of course.
