Fall into family fun in the Lowcountry
Temps and leaves have started to drop, and you find yourself more than ever itching to get outside and enjoy a cool breeze, a spiced latte, and perhaps a little pumpkin-picking action. The Lowcountry is rife with opportunities to enjoy one of the coziest seasons. Below, some of our can’t-miss picks for making the most of fall here in the Charleston region.
Boone Hall Pumpkin Patch
You’ll want to make this an annual tradition. Pick the biggest, cutest, or craziest pumpkin to take home to carve – and don’t forget to roast those seeds! You can also enjoy hayrides, a jump pillow, giant slide tower, petting zoo, spider web, rock climbing wall, and so much more. Swing by the retail tent on your way out to stock up on jellies and james, fresh produce, and festive fall décor! One admission price ($10) covers all the fun. Open daily through October.
West Farm Corn Maze
Fourteen years of corn maze fun just down the road from Nexton in Moncks Corner! Here’s a factoid we love: this year’s maze theme is "Bee True,” in an effort to bring awareness to the importance of honey bees. Fuel up with food trucks before hitting the 2.8 mile corn maze. Too much for your littles? There’s a smaller .3 mile maze just for them. After conquering the maze, visit the pumpkin bar, play ground, corn kernel box, and farm zoo. Open weekends through October 28th.
USS Yorktown Ghost Tours
How about some spooky adult fun? The USS Yorktown plays host to a guided walking ghost tour exploring the unexplained mysteries of the Fighting Lady. As seen on Syfy Channel’s Ghost Hunters and called THE walking ghost tour by The Today Show and Family Circle Magazine, it will be a night to remember! Open on select dates throughout the fall season. Book now.
Charleston Animal Society Chili Cook off & Oyster Roast
It wouldn’t be a list of fall fun without an oyster roast! And we think they taste even better when it’s for a good cause. On November 11th at Riverside Park, enjoy homemade chili, roasted oysters, live music, games, and a kids zone. You just might find the purrfect furry friend to add to your family while you’re there! All proceeds benefit Charleston Animal Society.
Garden & Gun Made in the South Weekend
This three-day experience showcases innovative artisans and crafters. Six categories – food, drink, style, home, crafts, and outdoors – will be highlighted. The event celebrates the unparalleled design and craftmanship that grew in the Lowcountry and still thrives today. Activities include a kickoff concert, a marketplace (start your holiday shopping!), an awards dinner, and Sunday brunch and shopping. November 9th-November 11th.
