Where to celebrate Fourth of July in the Lowcountry
Fantastic food, great drinks, and even better company: Fourth of July parties are the ultimate celebration of community! And if you know Nexton, you know community is what drives us. So naturally, the Fourth is among our favorite holidays! It's also an opportunity to thank our service men and women for their countless sacrifices. Joint Base Charleston is just 17 miles from Nexton and supports a total force of over 90,000 Airmen, Sailors, Soldiers, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, civilians, dependents, and retirees that call the Lowcountry home. Show thanks for them, love for country, and unity with one another this year in your best red, white, and blue, and enjoy community wherever you find it – be it at a backyard BBQ or in one of the big community bashes below. Happy Independence Day!

Midnight City Band will keep event attendees entertained with live music throughout the evening, while Summerville DREAM hosts games and hands-on crafts for children in the Kids Zone. There will also be a kid's inflatables area with obstacle courses and slides! Patriots Point Celebration and Fireworks
4:00 pm – 10 pm | Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum | $40 aboard USS Yorktown or free from the shore
What better way to celebrate the stars and stripes than on board one of the most historic warships in the United States? Watch the fireworks show and enjoy live music from the flight deck of the USS Yorktown. Alternatively, enjoy the show, live music and children’s entertainment options from the shore. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, and coolers and chairs are encouraged. Watching the awe-inspiring fireworks over the Charleston harbor with your nearest and dearest will be a night to remember.
North Charleston Fireworks
3:00 pm – 9:45 pm | Riverfront Park | Free
This year’s celebration at Riverfront Park features live musical entertainment from DJ Natty Heavy, Jump Castle Riot, Lauren Hall Band, and Black Diamond Band. Children activities include inflatable jump castles, games, the play area, the giant sandbox, and the water fountain. The foodtruck line up is impressive including everything from Ben & Jerry’s and Sunset Slush to Chucktown Mobile Seafood and Boxcare Betty’s. The fireworks display is the fourth largest in the Lowcountry, and more phenomenal every year!
Middleton Place
6:30 – 9:30 pm | Middleton Place | $85
This year’s celebration is even more special than usual – it’s the 300th birthday of Henry Middleton, the founder of Middleton Place, and the 275th birthday of Arthur Middleton, a Signer of the Declaration of Independence. Enjoy a “celebration for the ages” with colonial tavern games, early American cuisine and specialty cocktails from the colonial period, and the men and women of two 18th century generations of the Middleton family.
