Cool down at these Charleston region waterparks
Whirlin’ Waters Adventure Waterpark
Whirlin’ Waters is just 15 minutes from Nexton and packed full of summer fun. Spread over 15 acres, there are water features to suite everyone in your family. The Otter Bay kiddie pool area includes six lane racer slides, sprays, and interactive features. For smaller babes, head to the Lily Pad Lagoon for a shallow pool and three spray geysers. For the more adventurous, check out Rip Tide Run and The Tubular Twister – both feature slides that add up to more than 300 feet of fun. Big Splash Tree House is fun for all ages, with 66 interactive play elements, including a giant bucket to get everyone thorough drenched! Prefer your waterpark days a little more subdued? The Rollin’ River is 870 feet of relaxation.
Located in 643-acre James Island County park, this summertime sanctuary is a favorite across the Lowcountry. The kids will have the two 200-foot slides on repeat, only pausing to enjoy the Caribbean-inspired play structure that includes a variety of wheels and sprays. A leisure pool is available for kicking back a little, and the 500-foot lazy river mixes relaxation with little surprises here and there – channels of sprays and waterwalls will keep you cooled down as you float ‘round. A small café serving summertime fare like burgers, hot dogs, and fries will keep bellies full and happy.
Tucked deep in the tropical vegetation of Mt. Pleasant’s Palmetto Island Park, you’ll find a beacon of summertime fun. Get started with the 200-foot body flume and follow it with the 16-foot otter slide. Round it all out with the cyclone swirling water ride! Sprays, geysers, and raindrop waterfalls abound. The concession stand – ice cream included – will keep everyone fueled for a full day of water adventuring!
