Top 10 Highlights of 2017
When we wrapped up 2016, we were thrilled to celebrate the conclusion of an incredible year of growth and groundbreakings. We looked forward to 2017 bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. And we think the year lived up to our excitement, and then some! Below, ten reasons to celebrate another fabulous year at Nexton.
-
Starbucks. Days at Nexton got a little more energized thanks to the opening of our first coffee shop, Starbucks. In addition to the always-perfect fresh brews, caramel lattes, and double expressos, Starbucks Nexton is also serving up yummy, healthful lunch options. We've loved soaking up the cozy atmosphere, kicking back on the covered patio with our laptops (hello, free wifi!), iced lattes in hand. In a hurry? They've got you covered: the drive-through is quick and just as tasty.
-
Saussy Burbank enclave. At Nexton, we're all about building special places. That's why we were so excited to introduce the Saussy Burbank enclave. The relaxed, cottage-courtyard setting features perfectly placed homes along an grassy lawn that feels like more of an extension of your front yard than a park -no mowing required! Several Cottonwood and Bayberry designs are still available. Check them out.
-
The Volvo connection. In February, we got an insider's scoop on one of the region's most anticipated new residents: Volvo Cars! We learned about the company's Good Neighbor Collaborative, a group of 22 plugged-in individuals tasked with identifying ways Volvo can strengthen the Lowcountry. More on what we learned from Volvo representative David McNair here.
-
PPCP groundbreaking. Back on Pace Street, Palmetto Primary Care Physicians has been hard at work building their new 100,00 sf Class A Medical Official Building, which we broke ground on in 2017. The building will house primary and specialty care services, imaging, lab, and an urgent care center. Stay tuned for a ribbon cutting!
-
Residence Inn groundbreaking. On the heels of the PPCP groundbreaking, we gathered once again to celebrate another new neighbor: Residence Inn by Marriot. The 96-room, all-suite hotel will open in 2018.
-
Third annual Piccolo Spoleto. Over 1,000 music fans from around the Lowcountry joined us for another fantastic Piccolo Spoleto at Nexton. This year, we jammed to Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band, then kicked back to the smooth sounds of Gill Landry, previously of Old Crow Medicine Show. It was a wonderful way to spend a toasty summer evening, and we can't wait for Piccolo Spoleto 2018!
-
New eats at Nexton. One of the most exciting announcements of 2017 is also the most delicious: Halls Chophouse and Taco Boy are coming to Nexton! Nexton Square will house dozens of additional restaurants and retailers. We can't wait to spill the beans. Soon - we promise!
-
North Creek. On the home front, 2017 brought big things to Nexton, with the introduction of a new village and builder: North Creek Village by TrueHomes. Just across Hwy 176 from the Publix grocery store, North Creek features spacious homes from the low $200s. See what they have to offer.
-
Del Webb: now open! Speaking of homes, Del Webb Nexton is open for business! Early November the ribbons were cut and six designer model homes opened. The active adult (55+) village allows potential homeowners to pick from ten home designs in a variety of layouts. Eventually, a clubhouse called the Core will feature a pool, sports courts, a fitness center, and rooms for clubs. Intrigued? See the Del Webb home designs.

Greeting House named Best Sales + Info Center. As the cherry on top of a fabulous year, the Greeting House was named Best Sales + Info Center by the Charleston Homebuilder's Association. Here, guests are invited to sip fresh coffee, enjoy goodies made by our friends at Coastal Coffee roasters, and gather around our "kitchen" table, hand-crafted in Charleston by the folks at Landrum. If you haven't come for a visit, what better time than now? Schedule your visit or just swing by.
If you've been following along, or better yet, called Nexton home in 2017, a heartful thank you (and welcome!). Happy Near Year to you and yours!
