Gearing up for the Inaugural Nexton Cocoa Cup 5K
We're just 4 days from the first annual Nexton Cocoa Cup 5K, presented by Fleet Feet Sports. We couldn't be more excited to christen our newly paved Nexton streets.
We hope you've been training to run the certified 5K race, but if not, feel free to take it easy with the one-mile family fun run. Strollers are welcome! Afterwards, be sure to stick around for the post-race party and awards ceremony. Delicious hot cocoa will be served and special grand prize gift baskets will go to each overall winner. Individual prizes will go to the top three finishers in each age/gender group. And all 5K finishers will receive a special cocoa mug, sponsored by Palmetto Primary Care Physicians.
All participants over 21 will receive a free drink ticket for Carolina Ale House, too. The restaurant will be opening early and will feature food specials for all participants.
There will also be an opportunity for some last minute holiday shopping from My Favorite Things, Palmettos and Pigtails, Pluff Mud Apparel, The Bumble Bee Bowtique and Face Paint & Design.
The day's schedule is as follows:
- 7am --- Race Day Packet pickup opens
- 9am --- FREE 1-mile family fun run. All ages welcome and a special kids' finisher medal. Registration is not required for the 1-mile fun run (sweatshirt not included).
- 9:00 --- Packet pickup CLOSES
- 9:30 --- 5K starts from Sigma Drive, in the heart of Nexton

Where can I pick up my packet?
You can pick up your race packet, including your bib and race sweatshirt, at Fleet Feet in Mount Pleasant on Friday December 19th from 10 am ? 7 pm. You can also pick up your packet the day of the race beginning at 7 am.
Can I pick up a packet for a friend?
You can pick up your race packet, as well as those for friends, at Fleet Feet in Mount Pleasant on Friday December 19th from 10 am ? 7 pm. You can also pick up your packet the day of the race beginning at 7 am.
I signed up to run, but cannot make the event. How do I change the reservation to a friend?
We are unable to transfer registration at this time. But you can still pick up your packet and sweatshirt at Fleet Feet on December 19th, from 10-7.
Is there a course map available?
Please see the map in the image carousel above.
Where do I park?
Please enter Nexton via Brighton Park Boulevard, and park in the Nexton or SCRA office building parking lots. When you turn on to Brighton Park the morning of the race, follow the signage and parking attendants. See the map above.
What happens in the event of inclement weather?
The Cocoa Cup will go on rain or shine.
Can I still register to run?
Unfortunately, the race has reached capacity and registration is closed. However, registration is not required for the 1-mile fun run, or to enjoy the holiday festivities! We invite you to come out and enjoy the celebration!
