NAMED NAHB’S GREEN COMMUNITY OF THE YEAR 2022

we've been thinking about your day

Healthy living and efficient living are two of our guiding principles at Nexton, and we take our cornerstones seriously. Nexton’s Summerville location, adjacent to I-26, provides a thriving job center where people live, work and gather – taking traffic off the roads and creating an efficient lifestyle. Residents can bike or walk to work, daycare, schools and nightlife.

The community plan weaves woodlands, wetlands, and open space into the neighborhoods, creating meaningful connections with the outdoors. A 10-mile (and growing) network of walking and biking trails, gives residents and guests an opportunity to get outdoors to enjoy these natural assets. The developer has preserved an incredible 30%—approximately 2,000 of its 5,000 acres for open space, wooded preserves, wetlands as well as parks and trails. The master plan has been recognized as a “game-changer” in the Charleston region for its thoughtful planning and design.

The Blueprint of an Innovative Community

As winner of the Pubby Award for Community of the Year, Nexton sets the standard for green master-planned communities.

we’re excited by new ideas

In every phase of developing Nexton, we are dedicated to sustainability, some unique community features include:

  • Mature trees to provide shade
  • Storm water ponds designed for 100-year flood events
  • Native plants and vegetation that are well suited to the location
  • GigaFi technology allows businesses and homeowners to monitor and reduce energy and water consumption
  • LED street lights that are capped to reduce light pollution

do more with less. it’s the nexton way

Our commitment to eco-friendly living also extends indoors. The homes in our neighborhoods feature the latest in energy-efficient heating and cooling, so you can save money every month and help preserve our natural resources for future generations. Each home meets strict green building standards in five different categories: energy efficiency, healthy indoor air quality, resource efficiency, environmental responsibility, and water conservation. To ensure these standards are met, homebuilders are required to certify homes under the Eco-Select program, which governs the design, features and building process.
